Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How often can I meet with you?

Generally, people begin with meeting once per week then adjust the session frequency as needed down the road. During our initial session, we will collaboratively come up with a schedule that makes sense based on your therapeutic goals.

How long will it take?

It really depends on your needs and goals. Counseling can be short-term, for a specific issue, or longer-term, to deal with more entrenched patterns or your goal of continued personal growth and wellness.

How will it work? What will I have to do in counseling?

Counseling is different for everyone because different people have different goals. I tailor my therapeutic approach to you and your specific goals. You can usually expect to talk about the current events happening in your life, relevant personal history, and any progress toward your goals between sessions.

How can I make the most of therapy?

When you are investing as much of your personal resources into counseling as you are, it's wise to wonder how you can get as much out of the process as possible. The key? Be actively engaged. The ultimate goal is for insight and skills gained in session to improve life outside of session. A good way to ensure this is to make a habit of doing "homework" between sessions. If this appeals to you, I can offer suggestions about things you can do to bolster your progress.

How much do sessions cost?

My rate is $150 per hour. Payment is due at each session.

The schedule of fees is as follows:

Initial Session: Individual - $225 for 90 minutes; Family - $225 for 90 minutes

Follow-up Session: Individual - $150 for 60 minutes; $225 for 90 minutes

Do you take insurance?

No. I am not currently credentialed with any insurance companies.

Can I use my out-of-network benefits to pay for therapy?

If your health insurance plan includes an out-of-network benefit, then you may be able to be reimbursed for therapeutic services. I am happy to provide you with the information you need to request reimbursement, but it is up to you to check with your insurance to ensure that you are eligible for out-of-network coverage.

What if I can't afford the cost of therapy?

I offer a sliding scale. A sliding scale fee agreement can be arranged for those with demonstrable need.

What if I cancel or miss my appointment?

Time set aside for therapy sessions are not easily filled when they are canceled without notice. You will be expected to pay the full hourly rate for appointments that are not canceled with at least 24 hours notice.
